In their newest video, German magazine Sport Auto took the off-road-focused 911 Dakar to the Nürburgring to see just how fast it can complete a lap around the iconic racetrack.
Although you might be familiar with numerous onboard laps of the Nürburgring, none of them have been as unconventional as this one. In the video, Sport Auto’s Christian Gebhardt pushes the Porsche 911 Dakar to its limits by taking shortcuts as much as possible. Gebhardt cut corners several times during the hot lap by going off track and running through grass which we often do whenever we play video games like Need For Speed, Forza Horizon, or Gran Turismo just to get a faster lap time and beat opponents to the finish line.
The Porsche 911 Dakar seemed effortless while cutting corners and going off track and completed the lap in 7 minutes and 39.4 seconds. Admittedly, this lap time doesn’t exactly equate to a direct performance comparison between the Dakar and other vehicles that have achieved similar times. For comparison, this result is slower than the 911 GT3 driven by Gebhardt a few months ago.
