In Magnus Walker’s newest video on YouTube, we get a closer look at an ultra-rare 1993 Porsche 964 Turbo S Lightweight with just 127 km on the odometer, having spent most of its life in a private collection.
The “Leichtbau” (lightweight) designation is no understatement. Porsche stripped out creature comforts like power windows and soundproofing, replacing them with lightweight parts like carbon fiber doors and thinner glass. This shaved a whopping 400 pounds off the curb weight compared to a standard 964 Turbo.
Built as a tribute to the 1992 IMSA-winning 964 Turbo Cup car, only 86 of these lightweight machines were ever produced. The heart of the Leichtbau is a 3.3-liter single-turbocharged flat-six engine producing 381 horsepower, significantly more than the standard Turbo S.
