Electric Car for the Win
Porsche is known for its internal-combustion-engined sports cars, but soon it could be recognized for its electric cars instead of its rear-engined go-fast machines. The Porsche Taycan is now the best-selling car for the company in Europe.
According to Carscoops, Porsche is doing pretty well this year all things considered. The company is selling plenty of 911s and even more Taycans. The company managed to sell 1,183 units of the Taycan were purchased last month in Europe, which is more than any other vehicle it sells.
This is only really true if you divide up the sales of the Cayenne and the Cayenne Coup, though. Still, this is an impressive feat for the automaker and one that could forshadow what is to come for the German company.
Porsche might be selling plenty of Taycans, but the company’s sales are still down over seven percent so far this year. The Panamera saw a 71 percent decrease in sales. This gets me wondering if the Taycan is canibalizing Panamera sales. It’s certainly possible.
It will be interesting to see if this continues in the coming months and into 2021. I would expect that as more and more drivers become comfortable with electric cars, more of them will go for the Taycan over the Panamera.
