The term “Safari” has become increasingly popular in the automotive community, especially among Porsche enthusiasts. However, few names are as iconic as Tuthill Porsche when it comes to the East African Safari Rally. Known for its extensive racing history, Tuthill has consistently fielded numerous cars in the Safari Classic Rally.
One example of their engineering is the 1972 Tuthill Porsche 911, built for the East African Safari Rally. Dubbed their “Safari spec,” this competition car adheres to FIA specifications and features a carbon fiber shell, a 300-horsepower 3.0-liter engine, and all necessary safety modifications, including a full roll cage.
Recently, this car was tested in snow and ice conditions at the Team O’Neil rally school to thoroughly test its capabilities in preparation for upcoming events such as the Rally With No Name in Sweden and the East African Safari Rally.
