Plug-n-Play
Legendary supercar manufacturer RUF Automobile is thrilled to debut a new globally homologated plug-and-play LED lighting system for the classic Porsche 993 model range. Approved by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and the Economic Commission for Europe (ECE), this lighting system meets all necessary safety criteria and can enhance the 993 legally and reliably. The complete conversion to the new LED headlights, taillights, and marker lights is simple to install with basic mechanical knowledge.
Tony Hatter Collaboration
Designed in collaboration with the original creator of the 993, Tony Hatter, these lights seamlessly integrate into the 993 model’s design language, preserving the timeless charm and authenticity of the iconic ‘90s aesthetic. In the complex setup, the light module is positioned in the center of the lamp with a surrounding clasp in a funnel, which fits into the headlamp seat.
REBO Lighting & Electronics
Looking for a particularly powerful lighting system for his high-performance RUF CTR and BTR sports cars, Alois Ruf found the ideal partner in REBO Lighting & Electronics GmbH to fulfill his demands and deliver to his specifications for brilliant high and dipped beams. Based in Eisenach, Germany, REBO collaborates successfully with numerous automobile manufacturers.
“We are seeing the new year in a new light,” said Alois Ruf. “Because the 993-model range is part of the RUF Neo-Classic Sports Car Program, it was my vision to equip the latest air-cooled generation of the Porsche 911 with LED lighting. We wanted to create a lighting system prioritizing safety, visibility, and authenticity. The extensive development process was well worth it.”
Technically Superior
The Porsche 993 model range, produced from 1994-98, sees many examples still on the road worldwide. These vehicles were optionally fitted with Litronic headlights, benchmarked for perfect lighting in the ‘90s. Today, modern LED lighting represents a quantum leap in technology and safety.
With a dipped beam, the RUF LED lights were designed to illuminate the road asymmetrically (further right than left). A special Sicralan coating ensures a glare-free light distribution and optimal light output without dazzling oncoming drivers. According to the design engineers, the high beams light up the road nearly three times brighter than the original headlights when utilized.
Available Now
The conversion to the new LED lighting system for the 993 is plug-and-play and can be installed by enthusiasts with basic mechanical knowledge. The original 993 lights can also be stored in the RUF packaging for maximum convenience. The RUF 993 Precision LED Lighting System is available now in the RUF online parts store.
