Richard Hammond Drives the Porsche Boxster Spyder RS

The Porsche 718 Spyder RS is a high-performance convertible variant of the 718 Boxster. It features the same 4.0L naturally aspirated flat-six engine found in the 911 GT3, generating approximately 495 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque. This power allows it to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.4 seconds, with a top speed of 191 mph.

The Spyder RS is equipped with additional air intakes, sleek louvres that cover the mid-engine layout, and enhanced downforce compared to the standard model. Its body is constructed using carbon fiber-reinforced plastic to ensure a lightweight design, and the RS chassis has been specifically tuned to improve the engaging handling of this open-top Porsche.

As Porsche starts to embrace electrification with the introduction of a hybrid 911, this might be one of the last great combustion-powered Boxsters. In his newest video, Richard Hammond finally gets the chance to drive the Porsche 718 Spyder RS around a racetrack to see if it is the best Boxster so far.
