Pure Engine Sound of a Porsche 935 K3

In the late 1970s, while Porsche’s 935 was dominating GT racing, the Kremer brothers, Manfred and Erwin, believed they could enhance the factory cars. Operating a Porsche dealership, Erwin raced Porsches tuned by Manfred. By 1977, Manfred began extensively modifying the cars, producing the 935 K2 in 1978, which rivaled Porsche’s own 935s.

After further development, Kremer unveiled the 935 K3 in 1979, a world-class machine focused on weight reduction and improved efficiency. Key upgrades included replacing the air-to-water intercooler with an air-to-air version to reduce weight and eliminate leaks, optimizing the engine mount system for maintenance, and using composite body panels that shaved 30 kg.

The twin-turbocharged flat-six engine delivered up to 800 bhp, driving through a four-speed manual gearbox. Only 13 K3s were built, but they achieved remarkable success, securing victories at prestigious races such as Le Mans, Sebring, Daytona, and Nürburgring.
