The Porsche Taycan Turbo S was once the fastest electric sedan after Tesla’s Model S and it now faces competition from Mercedes-Benz and BMW.
Carwow organized a drag race to see if the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53, and BMW i7 50 have caught up to the Porsche Taycan Turbo S.
It’s worth noting though that the Taycan Turbo S boasts 750 hp and 774 lb-ft of torque, surpassing the Mercedes’ 649 hp and 700 lb-ft. However, the Mercedes had a performance pack boosting it to 750 hp and 752 lb-ft. The BMW lags behind with 544 hp and 550 lb-ft.
Based on the numbers alone, it’s not surprising that the BMW falls behind during the race. The Porsche and Mercedes, however, are closely matched with the Taycan overtaking the Mercedes. The Taycan finished the quarter-mile in 11.4 seconds, while the Mercedes does it in 11.5 seconds, and the BMW in 12.7 seconds.
