Porsche Sport Tourer Electric (2018)

An Electric Van Concept by Porsche

Porsche Vision Renndienst (2018)

This is a 1:1 scale hard model. The Porsche vision “Renndienst” (2018) is Porsche’s interpretation of a family-friendly space concept for up to six people. The design team designed a futuristic “space shuttle“ with exciting proportions. The study shows how the Porsche design DNA with its characteristic surface modeling can be transferred to an unknown vehicle segment for the brand. In the interior, passengers find a comfortable and modular travel cabin. The driver sits in a central driver’s seat. The all-electric drive technology is located in the underbody. As a result, passengers can enjoy an unexpectedly generous space and travel experience combined with Porsche-like flair.

We love this Porsche exploration of an electric van. Typically to a modern electric car, for lower center of gravity, the batteries would be located under the floor. Renndienst is the German translation for “race service”, which is pretty cool. Behind its futuristic design hides an evocation of the very rare Volkswagen T1 enhanced Rennsport from the 1960s. A van which then gave birth to a long series of Porsche technical assistance vehicles based on Volkswagen Combi. Interesting features include the Camera instead of the rear-view mirror. Such a feature was already seen on the 918 Spyder concept car in 2010. Cameras instead of mirrors went into production in 2019 on Honda E electric car. There is also the four-point headlamps, which are a “trademark” design item with modern Porsche cars. The driver’s seat in the middle, like in the McLaren F1.
