The Porsche 911 is an icon, a legend, and a benchmark in the automotive world. With a lineage spanning decades, the 911 has evolved into a diverse family of sports cars. But with over 25 trims available, finding the “purest” driving experience can be challenging. Porsche claims that the title belongs to the 992 Carrera T.
The Carrera T slots in at the starting point of the 911 range, but it has a specific mission: to deliver a raw and engaging driving experience. Unlike the base Carrera, which only has an 8-speed PDK automatic transmission, the Carrera T offers a 7-speed manual transmission. This, combined with weight-saving measures, makes it one of the lightest 911s you can buy.
Under the rear engine hatch lies a 3.0L twin-turbocharged flat-six engine, producing 379 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque. This powerplant, mated to the 7-speed manual transmission, propels the Carrera T from 0 to 60 mph in around 3.9 seconds, with a top speed of approximately 181 mph.
While not the most powerful 911, the Carrera T is all about the feeling it evokes. The lightweight design and manual transmission create a visceral driving experience that connects the driver to the car and the road.
