The Porsche 991 GT2 RS, unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in June 2017, set a new benchmark as the most powerful production 911. It features a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine producing 691 horsepower and is equipped with a seven-speed PDK transmission, a first for the GT2 series.
Porsche claims the GT2 RS can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.7 seconds and achieve a top speed of 211 mph. Initially, 1,000 units were planned for production. The 991 GT2 RS uses lightweight materials like a magnesium roof and carbon-fiber for the front bonnet, wings, and boot lid.
Not only is the GT2 RS extremely powerful, but it’s also designed to be lightweight. The optional $18,000 Weissach Package further reduces weight, adding carbon fiber elements like the roof panel, anti-roll bars, and front lid, bringing the car’s weight to just 3,241 pounds.
Some body panels remain unpainted to showcase the carbon fiber underneath. Behind the alloy wheels are the iconic yellow carbon-ceramic brake calipers. Inside, the Club-sport package includes a full roll cage, while racing bucket seats in black leather and Alcantara add a touch of luxury.
