Porsche Of The Day: 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4

In March 2015, Porsche revealed the high-performance, track-focused Cayman GT4 at the Geneva Motor Show, making it the first Cayman to bear the “GT” badge. This model was created to deliver an exceptional driving experience, with a 3.8L engine from the Porsche 911 Carrera S.

Equipped with four valves per cylinder and direct fuel injection, the engine generates an impressive 385 horsepower. The GT4 came exclusively with a 6-speed manual transmission and weighed just 2,954 pounds. Designed for enhanced aerodynamics and performance, the GT4 featured a vented front bumper, lower lip spoiler, and a fixed rear wing for added downforce.

It also boasted a 30mm lower ride height than the standard Cayman, with carbon ceramic brakes, a limited-slip differential, and Porsche Torque Vectoring. Porsche Active Suspension Management and dampers from the 991 GT3 further improved handling.

Several chassis reinforcements, including an integrated roll cage, ensured rigidity and balance. Visually distinct from other Cayman models, the GT4 was more than a typical weekend car. Produced in limited numbers for just one year, it is a standout performer, capable of delivering thrilling track and road experiences.
