Porsche Of The Day: 1970 Porsche 911 S Race Car

This 1970 Porsche 911 S, originally used in SCCA/Team Continental autocross and track events, was upgraded to RSR specifications by Porsche expert and original R-Gruppe member Gordon Ledbetter. The car was refinished in Signal Yellow and over the past 30 years, Ledbetter and his wife have raced it in PCA, SCCA, and NASA events.

The car features steel doors, a fiberglass hood, ducktail, and fenders, with removable rear fenders and plastic side/rear windows. Braking includes 928 GTS calipers with Alcon AP rotors up front and 944S front calipers with 930 Turbo front rotors in the rear. The car has 16″ and 18″ BBS wheels.

The interior includes a Racers Group seat, 2018 FIA 5-point belts, an AMB transponder, Halon fire system, factory gauges, a transmission temperature gauge, fuel pressure gauges, an Autometer tachometer, and a Momo steering wheel. The front trunk has a 12-gallon Fuel Safe fuel cell.

The RSR-spec 3.0-liter flat-six engine and RSR-spec 915 5-speed transaxle, built by Ledbetter, produce 304 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and 227 lb-ft of torque at 6,500 rpm.
