Our 2025 Porsche Taycan Rating
Pros
Solidifying its position as a leading electric performance sedan. Now features upgraded motors, batteries, and charging capabilities, resulting in a substantial leap forward. Taycan's handling remains impeccable, with a 50/50 weight distribution and air suspension providing a comfortable yet firm ride.
Cons
While range has improved, it remains only average compared to competitors. The vehicle's pricing is also a concern, as it is expensive with or without options. Interior space is somewhat limited, with rear legroom not being overly generous. Low roof can make it difficult to get in and out.
Verdict
A significant evolution in electric vehicle performance and technology. Its rapid acceleration, outstanding handling, and quick-charging capabilities make it a compelling choice for those seeking a high-performance electric sedan. But, its expensive and not the best in its class in terms of the day to day.

What's New
In 2025, Porsche introduced the first major refresh of the Taycan, known internally as the 91J update. While the core J1 architecture remained, nearly every component that mattered—from motors to battery management to charging hardware—was improved. The motors were more efficient, the battery packs were lighter with greater usable capacity, and the thermal management system was optimized for real-world conditions. The result was up to 35% more range in some variants, quicker acceleration times, and faster charging—up to 320 kW on compatible DC fast chargers, allowing 10–80% top-ups in under 18 minutes.
The 2025 Taycan lineup included the familiar range of models—Base Taycan, Taycan 4, 4S, GTS, Turbo, and Turbo S—but introduced a new flagship: the Taycan Turbo GT. Designed for extreme performance, the Turbo GT featured enhanced aero, a stripped-down interior, and a track-ready calibration that allowed it to lap quicker than most internal-combustion supercars. Additionally, the Turbo GT with Weissach Package took things further by eliminating the rear seats and maximizing weight savings, making it the most hardcore Taycan ever. All 2025 models benefited from sharper styling with revised front and rear designs and updates to the interior tech and user experience.
With this second phase of the Taycan's life, Porsche has fully realized the car’s original promise—delivering not just a great EV, but one that evolves in line with the brand’s relentless pursuit of driving excellence. The 2025-onward Taycan models are faster, more efficient, more comfortable, and better connected.

The Details
The Taycan GTS Sport Turismo offers more power, faster charging, and improved range. Pretty simple formula. There's always at least 596 horsepower and 534 pound-feet of torque at your toes, and it kicks in with the immediacy of a mouse click. Should you find this motivation insufficient, a little push-to-pass button on the steering wheel engages an overboost function, temporarily bumping output to 690 horses and 582 pound-feet. Sold exclusively with the new 97.0-kWh Performance Plus battery, although there's no longer the option of a 19.2-kW onboard charger.
While the base Taycan and 4S trims provide commendable performance, the GTS elevates the driving experience with enhanced power and sportier handling characteristics. On the other end, the Turbo and Turbo S trims deliver higher performance figures but come at a significantly higher price point. Thus, the GTS Sport Turismo serves as a middle ground in the range.
