Current Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid SUV – Ultimate Guide
The 2024 Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid isn’t just another high-performance SUV, it’s the most powerful Cayenne Porsche has ever built. With a powertrain that marries a twin-turbo V8 to a significantly improved plug-in hybrid system, this SUV delivers both insane horsepower and better-than-expected efficiency in a package that’s still surprisingly livable day-to-day.
Let’s start with the headline: 729 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of torque. That’s a massive jump from the previous Turbo model, and it places the new Turbo E-Hybrid right near the top of the SUV food chain. A lot of that comes from the updated 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, which alone produces 591 hp. But the 174-hp electric motor plays a big role too, adding not just boost but smooth, near-instant torque.
Put your foot down, and this thing moves. Porsche claims a 0–60 mph time of just 3.5 seconds, which is quicker than many sports cars. Top speed? 183 mph. That’s deep into supercar territory for something that can still carry five people and a good amount of cargo.
Of course, with hybrid powertrains, the electric side of the equation is just as important. For 2024, Porsche upgraded the battery from 17.9 to 25.9 kWh. The result is a meaningful bump in electric range. EPA figures say you’ll get about 24 miles, but real-world testing often lands closer to 30–40 miles, depending on conditions. For most commutes or local errands, you might not even need the gas engine. Plus, with a new 11-kW onboard charger, it’ll juice up from empty in under 2.5 hours with the right setup.
That said, this SUV is no featherweight.
Curb weight comes in north of 5,700 pounds. You definitely feel it under hard braking or quick direction changes. But here’s the thing, Porsche did a phenomenal job hiding that mass under normal and even spirited driving. A big part of that is thanks to the standard adaptive air suspension with new two-chamber, two-valve tech. This lets the suspension fine-tune rebound and compression separately, which translates into a smooth, plush ride in Comfort mode and impressively flat cornering in Sport or Sport Plus.
Add in standard Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) and available options like rear-axle steering and Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), and the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid starts to feel a lot less like a tall SUV and more like a performance wagon with extra ground clearance.
Visually, Porsche made sure you’ll recognize this trim as something special. The Turbo E-Hybrid gets a unique front fascia with larger air intakes, high-gloss black accents, and model-specific dual exhausts in brushed aluminum. Red brake calipers and body-colored lower trim pieces round out the aggressive but refined look.
Inside, Porsche didn’t skimp on sport-luxury touches either. You get a heated GT Sport steering wheel with drive mode selector, aluminum dash and door trims, and a roofliner finished in Race-Tex. Standard are 18-way leather Sport seats, but if you’d rather lean into comfort, there’s also the option of 14-way adjustable leather Comfort seats.
And while performance is the headliner here, this is still a Cayenne, which means plenty of tech and convenience baked in. All 2024 Cayenne models, including the Turbo E-Hybrid, got the new curved digital instrument cluster, upgraded HD-Matrix Design LED headlights, and a redesigned air-conditioned wireless charging pad that delivers up to 15 watts. Comfort Access is also standard, making it easy to get in and go without fumbling for your keys.
The Turbo E-Hybrid replaces the outgoing Turbo model in Porsche’s lineup, slotting in above the V6-based E-Hybrid and the V8-powered Cayenne S E-Hybrid. It’s the clearest example yet of Porsche’s hybrid performance philosophy: use electrification to amplify what a great engine can do, not to water it down. And to be fair, Porsche mostly delivers on that goal here.
Sure, there are quirks. The hybrid braking system, which tries to blend regen and traditional friction braking, can feel a little grabby or inconsistent, especially in stop-and-go traffic. And while the electric-only range is solid, it’s not quite Tesla or Rivian territory. But that’s not really the point here. The Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid is about having everything: V8 noise, EV smoothness, and serious performance, all in one very fast, very plush SUV. It may not be the lightest or most efficient hybrid out there, but it’s probably the most exciting. And for many Porsche buyers, that’ll be more than enough.

The 2024 Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid SUV and Coupe
Porsche presents the most powerful Cayenne of all time
Porsche is presenting the most powerful Cayenne yet; the Turbo E-Hybrid. Available in SUV and Coupe body styles, the new model produces 729 horsepower and offers superior performance, with a high degree of everyday usability.
- Turbo E-Hybrid model replaces previous Turbo variant
- V8 and E-Motor develop 729 hp and 700 lb.-ft. of system power
- New hybrid technology for quicker charging and greater electric range
Atlanta. After the introduction of the third generation Cayenne earlier this year, Porsche is expanding the model line with a new variant. As in the previous model generation, the most powerful Cayenne is powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain. On the new Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, Porsche has further improved the hybrid technology and improved electric range and power significantly, which benefits both everyday usability and performance. An electric motor generating 174 hp supports the extensively revised four-liter V8 twin-turbo engine making 591 hp. Combined, the total system output is 729 hp and 700 lb-ft. of torque. The resulting performance reflects the Cayenne’s ambition to be the sports car among SUVs. The Turbo E-Hybrid accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and on to a top track speed of 183 mph.
Compared to its predecessor, the new Cayenne E-Hybrid models feature a significantly larger high-voltage battery (25.9 kWh), which is mounted underneath the trunk area. The new 11-kW on-board charger can reduce the charging time to less than 2.5 hours using a suitable wallbox or charger, in spite of the increased battery capacity.
Air suspension with two-chamber and two-valve technology as standard.
The new Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid models include an adaptive air suspension system that features new two-chamber, two-valve technology as standard. This allows separate adjustability of both compression and rebound settings. The advantages of this setup are an improvement in comfort and handling and expanding the breadth between the Comfort and Sport Plus settings of the system. The suspension aims to combine precise handling during spirited driving with a comfort-oriented setup when cruising, and the best possible reduction of dive and squat motions when accelerating and braking. Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) is also included as standard on the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid. Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) as well as rear-axle steering can be ordered as options at an extra cost.
The Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid models complement their high level of power and chassis upgrades with distinct styling cues. Both body styles feature a Turbo-specific front fascia with larger air intakes and air blades kept in high-gloss black. The wheel arches as well as the lower rear fascia are painted in body color, underscoring the performance-oriented look. Further model-specific accents include two dual exhaust tailpipes made of brushed aluminum and red brake calipers.
Inside the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, aluminum trim on the dash and doors as well as a roof liner in Race-Tex generate a sporty ambiance. Standard equipment encompasses a heated GT Sport steering wheel with a switch to select the preferred drive mode as well as 18-way adjustable leather Sport seats. Alternatively, 14-way adjustable leather Comfort seats can be selected as well.
Extensive standard features
The new Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid also benefits from all the upgrades introduced on the 2024 Cayenne models earlier this year. This includes the newly designed HD-Matrix Design LED headlights, a more powerful 15-watt air-conditioned induction-charging pad, a digital instrument cluster with a curved and free standing design that offers multiple settings for information, and Comfort Access all as standard.
