Current Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupe – Ultimate Guide

The 2024 Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupe offers a slightly different flavor of performance and luxury, designed for drivers who want the efficiency of a plug-in hybrid and the sleek style of a sportier SUV. It shares its powertrain with the standard S E-Hybrid SUV, but the Coupe’s visual identity and driving presence make it feel like a distinct model. With upgraded tech, improved electric range, and Porsche’s signature driving dynamics, this coupe blends form and function in a way few plug-in hybrids do.

At the heart of the Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupe is a hybrid setup that combines a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine with a new and more powerful electric motor. The combustion engine generates 348 hp, while the electric motor contributes 174 hp, for a total system output of 512 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. That’s a serious amount of power for a plug-in hybrid SUV and places it neatly between the more conservative Cayenne E-Hybrid and the powerhouse Turbo E-Hybrid in Porsche’s hybrid lineup.

Despite its sleek styling and sloped roofline, the Coupe doesn’t compromise on performance. Porsche claims a 0 to 60 mph time of 4.4 seconds, with a top speed of 163 mph (263 km/h). It even edges out its gas-powered Cayenne S counterpart in the quarter mile by a tenth of a second, clocking in at 13.0 seconds. So while it wears a different body, the Coupe certainly delivers on the road.

The 2024 model year brings a larger 25.9 kWh battery, which increases the all-electric range to around 56 miles (EAER City). This makes it far more usable as an EV for everyday errands or commutes, especially in urban environments. The upgraded 11 kW onboard AC charger allows for a full recharge in about two and a half hours when plugged into a 240V outlet, which is right in line with what most owners will have access to at home or at work.

Just like the SUV version, the Coupe comes with adaptive air suspension as standard, this time using Porsche’s updated two-chamber, two-valve system. This allows for a broader range of ride stiffness and height adjustment, providing a cushy ride when cruising or a firmer setup for more spirited driving. The suspension setup reacts quickly and keeps the body composed regardless of terrain or driving mode.

The Coupe also benefits from improvements to regenerative braking. A revised electric motor boosts energy recovery and allows for smoother transitions between regeneration and traditional braking. A new brake booster ensures the pedal feel stays consistent throughout the braking process, whether you’re lightly slowing in traffic or applying hard pressure on twisty back roads.

From the outside, the Coupe’s biggest distinction is its rakish roofline, which gives the Cayenne a sportier and more athletic appearance. It’s more than just looks, though the Coupe also comes with a Black exterior styling package as standard, setting it apart from the SUV version, which features a Silver exterior package. The Coupe rides on 20-inch Cayenne S wheels and sports the same brushed stainless steel quad exhaust tips. Matrix LED headlights are standard, while HD Matrix LED units are optional.

Inside, the Coupe features the same high-end layout and materials found in the SUV, with eight-way power seats, stainless steel pedal pads, and the Silvershade-painted Diamar interior trim. The Sport Chrono package comes standard, giving drivers a drive mode selector on the steering wheel for toggling between electric, hybrid, and performance settings. The interior strikes a balance between tech and luxury without going overboard on design flourishes.

One standout feature is the upgraded infotainment system. Porsche has expanded the role of Apple CarPlay® within the My Porsche app, allowing drivers to control more vehicle settings directly through CarPlay. It’s a small but meaningful step in streamlining the tech experience, and Android Auto is also available. For added flair, an optional passenger display can stream video, visible only to the front passenger, and a new air quality system helps filter pollutants from entering the cabin.

Despite its coupe-like silhouette, the Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupe remains practical. Rear-seat headroom is slightly reduced compared to the SUV, but it still offers usable space for adult passengers. Cargo space is also competitive for its class, with enough room for luggage, groceries, or sports gear, especially when the rear seats are folded flat. It’s a compromise, but not a severe one.

Like its SUV sibling, the Coupe benefits from Porsche’s smart hybrid management strategies. In Sport mode, the system maintains a lower battery charge level to preserve more power for quick bursts of acceleration. In E-Charge mode, the engine prioritizes recharging the battery when driving at higher speeds, while Hybrid Auto mode uses route and traffic data to determine when to switch between electric and gas power for optimal efficiency.

In the end, the Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupe is more than just a better-looking version of the SUV. It’s for the driver who values both performance and personality. It has the power and presence of a performance SUV but adds in meaningful electric range, Porsche’s latest tech, and a coupe profile that turns heads.
