Current Porsche Cayenne GTS – Ultimate Guide

The 2024 Porsche Cayenne GTS SUV returns with a more focused edge, delivering the kind of driving experience that sets it apart from the rest of the Cayenne lineup. While the standard Cayenne already blends sports car dynamics with SUV practicality, the GTS shifts that balance even further toward spirited on-road performance. At the heart of this package is an updated 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, now producing 493 horsepower and 487 lb-ft of torque, an increase of 40 hp and 29 lb-ft over the outgoing model. Paired with the standard Sport Chrono Package, the Cayenne GTS can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 275 km/h (171 mph).

To achieve that extra power and responsiveness, Porsche revised multiple aspects of the V8. The twin-scroll turbochargers were swapped for a single-scroll setup to increase exhaust temperatures and improve efficiency. The boost is now managed by new electronically controlled wastegates for quicker response, and injection pressure has been raised. The addition of a two-stage valve lift system improves power delivery across the rev range, and high-resolution camshaft sensors allow the engine to adjust timing more precisely in real-time. These engineering tweaks don’t just show up in a spec sheet, they’re felt in how the GTS pulls hard through the midrange and reacts instantly to throttle input.
The eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission also gets updates.

In Sport and Sport Plus modes, shifts are faster and more immediate, while Normal mode emphasizes smoothness and early upshifts for better efficiency. As with previous high-performance Cayenne variants, the GTS benefits from a motorsport-inspired cooling upgrade: its all-wheel-drive system now features a water-cooled transfer case. This design, borrowed from the Turbo GT, stabilizes thermal performance under sustained high load, making it perfect for track days or steep, winding drives.

Complementing the powertrain is a GTS-specific chassis setup. Adaptive air suspension is now standard, bringing Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) into the mix. The GTS rides 10 mm lower than standard Cayenne models and benefits from two-chamber, two-valve damper technology. This allows the suspension to react quickly to changes in road surface or driving style, adjusting stiffness for comfort or precision as needed. Porsche also borrowed front axle pivot bearings from the Turbo GT, which increase negative camber by 0.58 degrees, enhancing cornering grip and steering response.

Braking power is equally impressive, with six-piston front calipers clamping onto 410 mm discs and four-piston calipers paired with 365 mm discs in the rear. Red-painted calipers come standard, though high-gloss black is an option. For those planning to push their GTS harder, Porsche offers its Ceramic Composite Brakes, which upgrade the front and rear disc sizes to 440 mm and 410 mm, respectively.

Visually, the Cayenne GTS stands apart thanks to the SportDesign package, which is now standard. It brings in more aggressive styling with enlarged front air intakes, dark-tinted headlights and tail lights, and high-gloss black trim on the side skirts, rear diffuser, and wheel arch extensions. On past GTS models, these elements were body-colored, but the darker finish gives the 2024 model a stronger, more athletic presence. The exhaust tips have also been redesigned in a dark bronze finish, replacing the previous black. Standard wheels are 21-inch RS Spyder Design alloys in Anthracite Grey, with multiple 21- and 22-inch alternatives available.

Inside, the Cayenne GTS creates a sport-focused atmosphere without feeling stripped down. Standard eight-way adjustable sport seats provide extra lateral support with their raised bolsters, while Race-Tex—Porsche’s suede-like performance material—covers the seat centers, roof lining, armrests, and door panels. A smaller-diameter GT Sport steering wheel comes standard, along with GTS-branded headrests and a black central tachometer. Two optional interior packages in Carmine Red or Slate Grey Neo add color accents to stitching, seat belts, and floor mats for buyers looking to personalize the cabin.

The GTS benefits from the latest updates introduced across the Cayenne lineup, including the Porsche Driver Experience cockpit. The curved digital instrument cluster is now standard and pairs with an optional passenger display, giving co-drivers access to navigation and media without distracting the driver. Ambient lighting and a Bose surround sound system also come standard, rounding out the in-cabin tech features.
Although performance is the GTS’s priority, Porsche hasn’t overlooked comfort or practicality. In Normal mode, the ride remains composed, and the cabin is quiet enough for daily commutes or long road trips. But with the turn of a dial, the Cayenne GTS becomes a different animal: quicker shifts, sharper steering, and a much more vocal V8 soundtrack delivered through the expressive sports exhaust system.

The 2024 Cayenne GTS sits in a unique spot within the Cayenne range. It’s more engaging than the Cayenne S and avoids the complexity of plug-in hybrid systems found in higher trims. With performance tweaks inspired by Porsche’s most extreme SUVs and a design language that’s confident but not overdone, the GTS offers a true driver’s SUV without compromising everyday usability.

Precise and dynamic: the new Cayenne GTS models

Porsche is completing its Cayenne model line, which was comprehensively revised in 2023, with the new, particularly dynamic GTS models.

The SUV and Coupé combine a powerful 368 kW (500 PS, Cayenne GTS (preliminary values): Fuel consumption* combined (WLTP) 12.7 – 12.2 l/100 km, CO₂ emissions* combined (WLTP) 289 – 277 g/km, CO₂ class G , CO₂ class weighted combined G , Cayenne GTS Coupé (preliminary values): Fuel consumption* combined (WLTP) 12.7 – 12.2 l/100 km, CO₂ emissions* combined (WLTP) 290 – 277 g/km, CO₂ class G , CO₂ class weighted combined G ) twin-turbo V8 engine and equally performance-driven chassis systems with everyday practicality, distinctive design elements and enhanced standard equipment.

At Porsche, the GTS abbreviation stands for Gran Turismo Sport – in practice, it means an extra dose of dynamism and long-distance capability. At its core, the Cayenne is both a high-performance sports car and an all-terrain SUV. However, for the GTS models, this balance has traditionally shifted towards improved on-road capability. With a powerful drive system, precise tuning and an exclusive design, the new Cayenne GTS remains true to this principle while remaining suited to everyday use.

Chassis technology from the Cayenne Turbo GT

The precisely honed, GTS-specific chassis and 10-millimetre-lower ride height mark an exciting development for the Cayenne GTS. Looking a little deeper, the car is now equipped with adaptive air suspension as standard, including Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus). All chassis components and control systems, such as Porsche Traction Management (PTM) and the optional Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), are specifically designed for optimal on-road performance.

The GTS’s two-valve damper technology offers impressive responsiveness, and its two-chamber air suspension gives the car a highly dynamic spring rate while simultaneously ensuring driver comfort. The front axle pivot bearings of the Cayenne GTS models originate from the Cayenne Turbo GT (not offered in Europe). They increase the negative camber of the wheels by 0.58 degrees in comparison to other Cayenne models. The result is strikingly agile cornering and exceptional handling dynamics.

Cayenne GTS with V8 biturbo engine

In addition to the finely tuned chassis, the charismatic V8 is another important feature of the Cayenne GTS. The 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, developed by Porsche and manufactured in Zuffenhausen, has undergone extensive technical revision. This has resulted in efficiency gains and a significant increase in performance: the engine now produces 368 kW (500 PS) of power – an increase of 30 kW (40 PS) compared to the previous model. The maximum torque is now 660 Nm, an increase of 40 Nm. The revised eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission noticeably improves driving performance through shorter response and shift times in Sport and Sport Plus modes.

In combination, these features give the four-door sports car truly remarkable performance. The new Cayenne GTS accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. The top speed is 275 km/h. A further technical innovation is that the transfer box for the all-wheel drive Porsche Traction Management (PTM) features an independent water cooling circuit. This technology is also adopted from the high-performance Turbo GT model. It stabilises the continuous load capacity – for example when tackling track driving or navigating mountain routes.

Exclusive GTS-style design and equipment

All of Porsche’s GTS models are recognisable thanks to their unique, sporty design. On the Cayenne GTS this includes black ‘GTS’ lettering on the sides and rear of the car, a special front end with bigger cooling air intakes, dark-tinted headlights and tail lights, and red brake callipers. Keeping with this classic design DNA gives the car that instantly recognisable Porsche look, but with a few innovations. Body attachments such as the side skirts, front inlays, side window trims and wheel arch extensions, which all form part of the standard Sport Design package, are now manufactured in High-Gloss Black. On previous GTS models, some of these body parts were body coloured. In contrast, the sports exhaust system tailpipes, which previously came in Black, are now finished in a dark bronze tone. To further enhance the design portfolio of the Porsche GTS models, 21-inch RS Spyder-design wheels are fitted and finished in anthracite grey.

The interior of the Cayenne GTS features a heated GT sports steering wheel as standard. The high-quality material Race-Tex can also be found throughout the car. The suede-like fabric covers the roof lining, armrests and door panels, as well as the centre panels of the eight-way-adjustable sports seats. The side bolsters have been further raised to offer even more lateral support when cornering. Two alternative, GTS-specific interior packages in Carmine Red or Slate Grey Neo (not at the start of sales) are also available from Porsche for a more customised look.

New Driver Experience with ambient lighting and surround sound

The new GTS models benefit from the recent comprehensive product upgrade for the Cayenne, which includes the new Porsche Driver Experience with a curved digital instrument cluster as standard and an optional passenger display. In addition to the Sport Design package, dark-tinted HD matrix LED headlights and air suspension, the model also features a Bose® surround sound system and ambient lighting.

The Cayenne GTS Coupé also includes a fixed panoramic roof in glass as standard, as well as an adaptive extending rear spoiler. If desired, the dynamic feel of the Coupé can be heightened even further with a Sports exhaust system with centrally positioned tailpipes in dark bronze. This is available as part of the three different lightweight sports packages. These also include a lightweight roof and a carbon rear diffuser, as well as reduced insulation. Depending on the equipment, the Lightweight packages can reduce the weight of the vehicle by up to 25 kilograms.

Both models are now available to order. Deliveries in Europe will begin in Summer 2024.
