The Porsche 944 sold super-well and a total of 173,238 cars were produced throughout its run between 1982 and 1991. It was one of the most successful sports car in Porsche’s history. The top seller was the base coupe 944 with 113,070 units sold. The Turbo was a close second with just over 25,000 units produced. The S and S2 both sold just over 10,000 units.

For instance Porsche and Callaway collaborated and it resulted in 20 specially built turbo 944’s built for the US market in 1983. We also noted cars like the 1985 a Prototype 944 S Cabriolet ‘Studie’ built by Braun (it was powered by the 2.5 L 16 valve which developed 185 hp).
