Porsche 928 VIN Range
Our reader already know we have an in-depth VIN decoder for Porsche models, so this post is all about knowing what the VIN range for each model year of Porsche 928. Some important notes for the Porsche 928 VIN researchers out there are noted below.
Firstly, for the 1978, 1979 and 1980 model years, the VIN is unique, when for only those 3 years a 10-digit VIN format was used. From 1981 model year onward, the new 17-digit Porsche VIN format was standardized per ISO 3833. Like the rest of the range, the first thing to understand is that Porsche 928 models were separated into types, based on country. There was Type US (United States and Canada) and RoW (Europe and Rest of World).
