2022 Porsche Lineup
Gone are the days when Porsche was considered a niche manufacturer of 911 sportscars for a few of the rich folk in the world. In 1998 Porsche produced 43,982 cars and that was split pretty evenly between the Boxster/Cayman and the 911. In 2021, Porsche produced a staggering 301,915 cars and SUVs across six model families. While Porsche sold 38,000+ 911s and another 20,502 Boxster/Caymans, it is Porsche's SUVs and sedans that made up the lionshare of total sales. The Cayenne SUV sold 83,071 units in 2021 globally, while the award winning Macan sold another 88,362 units. Add another 30,000 Panameras and 42,000 Taycans and you can see that Porsche is a bit player in the automotive space. In 2022, there is literally a Porsche for every buyer and that is what makes Porsche special today and why we love the current lineup. The 2022 models in Porsche's luxury sports cars like the 911, 718 Boxster, and 718 Cayman, while SUV models include the Macan, Cayenne, Cayenne Coupe, and Cayenne E-Hybrid. Porsche also has the practical family hauler in the form of the Panamera and the insanely fast electric Taycan.
2022 Porsche SUVs
The are two SUVs in the Porsche family. The Porsche Macan is a compact SUV that has five doors, five seats and resolutely remains the sports car of the compact SUV segment. The Macan has powerful engines and awesome handling, but it isn’t spacious for family duties. For that, you need to go to the fullsize Cayenne SUV. The The 2022 Porsche Cayenne delivers great performance and has a luxury interior, as well as lots of space, and is probably the top luxury midsize SUV in its class. The Cayenne is also available in a bewildering number of powertrains and now in two bodystyles (the normal SUV and new coupe).
2022 Porsche Sedans
The 2022 Porsche Panamera finishes near the top of our super luxury car rankings according to most publications and with its ability to do pretty much everything right, combining stellar performance, a world-class cabin and great looks it is a hard proposition to be disappointed by. Its biggest competition actually comes from the new electric Taycan, which is the best electric car in the world and absolutely stunning in every respect. We would choose the Taycan over the Panamera and that isn't something we expected to say a few years ago. Both the Taycan and Panameras are available in several bodystyles and variants.
2022 Porsche Sportscars
Gone are the days when the Porsche Boxtster and Cayman were seen as second class citizens in the Porsche sportscar standings. Today, these models are arguably the more fun sportscars, especially given that the 911 is bigger, more luxurious and less visceral than in previous generations. The Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder are the special editions, but you can get your 718 in lots of flavors. Speaking of which, you can now get your 911 in 23 different variants. From the base 911 to the GT3 and mighty 911 Turbo, there is a 911 for every buyer. You can't go wrong with any of them, so just buy with your situation in mind and not your ego.
