In 1997, Porsche produced a limited factory-production run of what is the last air-cooled 911 Turbo, the 993 Turbo S. All 993 Turbo S were fitted with most Turbo options as standard and also came standard with Aerokit II front and rear spoilers, unique side air ducts and front air inlets, and unique yellow brake calipers.
Engine output was increased over the standard 911 Turbo to 424HP for US models and 450HP for non-US models, with a 0-60 time of 3.7 seconds and 184 mph top speed. A total of 345 examples of the 993 Turbo S were produced, of which 176 were imported to the US.
This example currently offered on Bring A Trailer is one of 176 examples produced for the North American market. The car is finished in black over black leather and is equipped with a twin-turbocharged 3.6L flat-six that sends power to all four wheels via a six-speed manual transaxle with a limited-slip differential.
The car is factory equipped with larger turbochargers than the standard Turbo as well as an extra oil cooler, integrated quarter panel scoops, a sunroof, revised exterior aerodynamics, larger brakes with yellow calipers, power-adjustable front seats, automatic climate control, carbon-fiber interior trim, and a CD stereo.
All Turbo S were built by the Porsche Exclusive department and they can be distinguished from a standard 993 Turbo by their quarter panel intakes, yellow brake calipers, biplane rear spoiler, four-tipped exhaust system, and Aerokit front spoiler with revised venting and fog light placement. This particular model is finished in black and also comes equipped with headlight washers, a power sunroof, and a rear window wiper.
The car rides on hollow-spoke 18-inch wheels with Pirelli P Zero Rosso tires measuring 225/40 up front and 285/30 at the rear. The 993 was the first 911 to feature multi-link rear suspension, and it also boasts an Automatic Brake Differential (ABD) system. Braking is managed by ventilated and cross-drilled rotors paired with yellow Porsche-branded four-piston calipers on all four wheels.
The hard-back sport seats are trimmed in black leather with body-color shells, and carbon-fiber accents the door panels, dashboard, and center console. Other amenities include power-adjustable front seats, cruise control, automatic climate control, folding rear seats, Turbo-branded floor mats, and a CD stereo.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation, which includes a central tachometer, a 200-mph speedometer, an analog Quarz clock, and gauges for oil pressure, oil temperature, oil level, and fuel level. The odometer shows 7k miles, with a few of those miles added under current ownership.
Power is delivered by a twin-turbocharged 3.6L flat-six engine features larger K24 turbochargers, an additional oil cooler, and a modified Motronic engine management system, producing 424 horsepower and 423 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to all four wheels via a six-speed manual transaxle with a limited-slip differential.
With only 7k miles on the odometer, this 993 Turbo S is practically new, and its pristine condition is accentuated by the black on black leather finish. This rare Porsche beauty is sure to turn heads wherever it goes, and with only 176 models imported to the US, it’s a true collector’s item. Don’t miss your chance to own a piece of Porsche history!
