The GT3 Touring model has gained recognition among dedicated driving purists and longstanding Porsche enthusiasts. It offers a more reserved version of the track-focused road car, omitting some key features found in the regular model.
One significant change is the replacement of the static rear ‘swan neck’ wing with an electronically-controlled retractable wing. This alteration retains its functionality under race-track conditions but presents a more unassuming appearance for everyday driving.
With an impressive 9,000 rpm redline, the GT3 Touring generates 502 hp @ 8,400 rpm and 346 lb-ft of torque @ 6,250 rpm from its 4.0-liter flat-six engine, achieving similar figures in 0-60 mph times and top speed as the regular model.
The Porsche 911 GT3 Touring comes with two transmission options, with the 6-speed manual being the preferred choice for many buyers of this model. The GT3 and GT3 Touring both use the 7-speed PDK transmission, distinguishing them from the rest of the 992 line-up, which uses an 8-speed version.
This example currently listed for auction on Bring A Trailer, a 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring in Shark Blue with black leather and Race-Tex upholstery, has only covered 1,300 miles.
The car is equipped with the Touring Package in black, which adds features like black window trim, rear Porsche lettering, and a revised decklid with a mesh grille and retractable rear spoiler instead of the raised wing found on the standard GT3. Additional features include black LED headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS+), a rear fog light, Exclusive Design taillights, a carbon-fiber roof and mirror caps, and dual center-exit exhaust outlets.
Satin Black-finished 20″ front and 21″ rear GT3 center-lock wheels with Shark Blue accents are paired with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires (255/35 up front and 315/30 out back). Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) with yellow-finished calipers provide excellent stopping power over cross-drilled and ventilated discs at each corner. The car is also equipped with a front-axle lift system and rear-axle steering.
The interior features heated sport seats with Shark Blue seatbelts, black leather upholstery with Race-Tex inserts, carbon-fiber trim, and door sill plates. Amenities include Porsche Communication Management infotainment, a Bose sound system, automatic climate control, and cruise control. The front trunk is fitted with a Porsche-branded liner. The GT3 sports steering wheel includes a drive-mode selector dial and frames a central tachometer with a 9k-rpm redline, along with a digital speed readout and dual adjustable TFT screens.
The 4.0-liter flat-six engine is equipped with direct fuel injection, VarioCam variable valve timing, dry-sump lubrication, and individual throttle bodies. It delivers 502 horsepower and 346 lb-ft of torque. This car was optioned with an extended range 23.7-gallon fuel tank. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels through a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transaxle and an electronically locking rear differential with Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) Plus. A standard stainless-steel sport exhaust system is fitted to the car.
