This particular 2016 Porsche 911 R currently listed on Bring A Trailer is #703 of 991 examples made during one-year production run. What makes this example unique is its incredibly low mileage which is only 685 miles, making it almost-new.
The 911 R was created as a limited-production variation, with inspiration drawn from the homologation special of the same name from 1967. Its design was based on that of the contemporary 911 GT3, incorporating construction elements from the GT3 RS such as the magnesium roof panel and carbon-fiber hood.
The model also boasted a carbon-fiber deck lid and front fenders, along with a specific front lip and rear underbody splitter, a retractable spoiler, and an aluminum grille. This particular vehicle is finished in white with red over-the-top stripes and Porsche side graphics.
Mounted on silver 20″ center-lock GT3 alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires measuring 245/35 up front and 305/30 out back, the adjustable suspension underpinnings and rear-axle steering were shared with the contemporary GT3, but customized for the 911 R. The vehicle also features a front-axle lift system and yellow six- and four-piston monobloc calipers over ceramic-composite rotors at each corner to provide excellent stopping power.
Inside the car, the carbon-fiber-backed bucket seats are upholstered in black Extended leather with patterned cloth inserts and 911 R headrest logos, while the dashboard, center console, sills, and door panels are adorned with carbon-fiber trim.
The car’s features include the Sport Chrono Package, carbon-fiber trim, auto-dimming mirrors with rain sensors, the Light Design Package, PCM infotainment with navigation, HomeLink connectivity, dual-zone automatic climate control, a CD stereo, and Bose Surround Sound. An aluminum dashboard plaque highlights the car as #703 of 991 built for the model year.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 225-mph speedometer and a tachometer with an 8,600-rpm redline, as well as gauges for oil temperature, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The digital odometer records just 685 miles, approximately 400 of which were added under current ownership.
Power comes from a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six and was factory rated at 500 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque. The car also comes with a 23.9 gallon extended-range fuel tank, with power being delivered to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential with Porsche Torque Vectoring. This car is equipped with an optional single-mass flywheel and reinforced clutch.
Introduced at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, the 911 R instantly became a sensation among car enthusiasts thanks to its GT3 RS flat-six engine and engaging manual transmission. This particular model is a remarkable specimen, boasting the highly coveted Sport Chrono Package and an impressively low odometer reading of just 685 miles. A perfect choice for collectors of high-performance vehicles, this car is guaranteed to provide an unforgettable driving experience behind the wheel of a 911.
