Driving the Tuthill Porsche 911K

The Tuthill Porsche 911K is a lightweight, custom-built sports car made with extensive carbon fiber to minimize weight. Its 3.1-liter flat-six engine produces around 350bhp and revs up to 11,000rpm, offering an exceptional power-to-weight ratio.

Vicki Butler-Henderson from DriverReviews explores this reimagined Porsche 911, expertly modified by Tuthill, known for its work in rally, racing, and restoration. This 911 is designed for driving enthusiasts, emphasizing lightweight engineering.

The Tuthill 911K retains the classic early ’70s Porsche 911 shape, with nearly all panels made from carbon fiber, including the bumpers, bonnet, roof, and rear quarters. The carbon fiber theme extends to the wheels as well, reducing weight.

Inside, the car adopts a minimalist approach with retro-styled seats that balance vintage looks with modern comfort. There’s no stereo, heater, or cupholders, focusing solely on the driving experience. A carbon dashboard and titanium roll cage highlight its lightweight, performance-oriented design.

Mechanically, the 3.1-liter flat-six engine delivers ample torque, with a carbon plenum enhancing the sound as it reaches the 11,000rpm redline. The custom-built six-speed transmission features a magnesium case, and a competition-grade pedal box completes the setup.
