A new video from the Throttle House YouTube channel allows us to witness a head-to-head matchup between three rival German car manufacturers that are known for their superior engineering. They organized a series of drag and rolling races, pitting the 2023 BMW M2, the 2023 Porsche Cayman GTS 4.0, and a tuned 2023 Volkswagen Golf R against each other.
On paper, the BMW M2 holds an advantage over both the Porsche and the Golf. Its 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six engine generates an impressive 460 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. However, weighing in at 3,931 pounds and with its engine positioned in the front, the M2 is noticeably heavier and differs from the Cayman’s rear mid-engine layout.
The Porsche Cayman boasts a 4.0-liter naturally-aspirated flat-six engine, delivering 394 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. Despite its power, the Cayman maintains a lightweight curb weight of 3,329 pounds.
Lastly, the tuned Volkswagen Golf R is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine, producing 446 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. Its pre-modification curb weight stands at 3,481 pounds.
So, which car was the fastest? Watch and find out!
