The BMW Z4 M40i boasts a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine, producing 340 horsepower and 500 Newton-meters (368 pound-feet) of torque. Power is channeled through a ZF eight-speed gearbox to the rear wheels, with a weight of 1,580 kilograms (3,483 pounds).
The Porsche 718 Cayman S, with a smaller turbocharged 2.5-liter flat-four engine, generates an impressive 350 hp and 420 Nm (309 lb-ft) of torque. It too is rear-wheel drive, equipped with a seven-speed PDK gearbox and lighter than the BMW at 1,385 kg (3,053 lbs).
In the first race, the Porsche emerged victorious, reaching the finish line in 12.22 seconds at 184 kilometers per hour (114.33 miles per hour). It achieved 100 kph (62 mph) in just 4.09 seconds. The BMW followed closely, finishing the quarter-mile race in 12.87 seconds at 176 kph (109.36 mph) and reaching 100 kph in 4.61 seconds.
In the second race, the BMW had a false start, leaving the starting line too early. The Cayman chased after it but couldn’t catch up, taking second place but completing the race in a quicker time of 12.23 seconds. Despite the head start, the BMW finished in 12.85 seconds.
