In collaboration with Porsche Korea and as part of the Sonderwunsch program, BLACKPINK’s Jennie Kim just unveiled her own personal dream car that was built based on the Taycan 4S Cross Turismo.
Known as Jennie Ruby Jane or simply JENNIE, the 26-year-old is a member of a very popular Korean girl group BLACKPINK. She has also gained a lot of loyal fans as a solo rap and K-pop (Korean pop music) artist.
Some of the car’s personal features include discreet highlights in “Paint to Sample” Meissenblue in both the exterior and interior and a “Jennie Ruby Jane” logo that she herself created. With a metallic black finish, the car has been named “Taycan 4S Cross Turismo for Jennie Ruby Jane”. At the start of BLACKPINK’s world tour in Seoul, this Sonderwunsch model will be presented at ‘the Sonderwunsch Haus’.
Vice President Individualization and Classic at Porsche Alexander Fang stated, “JENNIE had very specific images of her dream Porsche. The collaboration was accordingly intense and inspiring. Working together with international customers on these special projects is particularly exciting and enriching. In this case we were also faced with interesting challenges that motivated us as a team to be able to make even the most creative wishes come true.”
To iron out all the details of the Taycan 4S Cross Turismo, experts on the Sonderwunsch team at Porsche Exclusive manufaktur, the Style Porsche design department, and JENNIE had a digital workshop that lasted for several hours.
Inspiring Collaboration And Creative Exchange
This customized car was created in the Sonderwunsch department at the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur workshop in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen. “As an artist, JENNIE is used to creative collaborations. She even brought a mood board to our meeting that visualised the initial ideas and reflected their reception,” Grant Larson shared. Since 1989, Larson has been part of Style Porsche, and a project manager for the special projects, one of his responsibilities include the Sonderwunsch work in the design department.
JENNIE added, “Being able to collaborate so intensively on my own very personal Porsche was an amazing experience. I’m especially proud of having designed the visualisation of the clouds. I spend a lot of time travelling around the world – the sky and the clouds are my travelling companions and a beautiful symbol of these unique experiences. This is why I feel a special connection to them and am so passionate about photographing these nature motifs.”
CEO Porsche Korea Holger Gerrmann said, “It was an exciting experience working with JENNIE from BLACKPINK on Porsche Korea’s first Sonderwunsch project. JENNIE is an influential global icon that represents a generation of young and creative opinion leaders and the ‘Generation Z’ in Korea. I was impressed by her commitment and ideas, which went into her very personal Porsche. With the new Sonderwunsch programme, we are pursuing the goal of enabling people with very different lifestyles to make their dream of the perfect sports car come true.”
Meissenblue Accents
For the exterior of the Taycan, it was deliberately decided to be simple. As a beautiful contrast to the metallic black finish, they gave the 21-inch Exclusive Design rims a Meissenblue finish. This same special blue hue can also be seen on the “Electric” lettering on the driver’s door, cloud logos on the B-pillars, and the model name on the rear. Illuminated “Jennie Ruby Jane” lettering can be seen on the front door entry guards, while “NiNi” her nickname can be seen on the rear door guards.
Following JENNIE’s wishes, they used the typography of the current 911 generation (Type 992). Logo projectors in the front doors projects the clouds onto the ground beside the car. The wheel hub covers bears the artist’s name and “Sonderwunsch” together.
For the interior, they brought together Black, Crayon, and Meissenblue color scheme to create an elegant ambience. The seats and the top part of the dashboard are in Crayon. Air vent borders, the door panel trim, cup holders, and the top center marking of the steering wheel rim are in Meissenblue. JENNIE’s personally designed clouds can be seen on the headrests. There is also a special indoor car cover that was made with this personalized design.
A cute personalized feature in his Taycan shows the attention to detail that was poured on this project, and it is the black dog box in the car specifically made for JENNIE’s beloved Pomeranian “Kuma” which means “bear” in Japanese. Like other features of the car, this box has a Meissen Blue accent, and the front part bears the dog’s name. Inside the transport box is her personalized cloud design.
