One of these distinguished lots is an interesting part of Porsche racing history embodied by the gorgeous 1982 Porsche 911SC that has under its belt a three-decades long racing history in Dakar.

The example was prepared originally by Henrard Racing in Belgium, and as soon as it was introduced on track, the 1982 911SC went to grab a 1st place finish overall at the 2013 Dakar Classic Rally-Morocco, driven by legendary rally card driver Stéphane Henrard.

It went on to claim other victories. In the 2013 and 2014 Historic Morocco Rally, the Henrard 911SC recorded a 6th and 9th place finish, respectively. Former Formula One Driver Eric Van de Poele was the one on the wheel during these victories.

Desert racer and One More Win documentary filmmaker Amy Lerner then drove the custom 911SC at the Dakar Classic 2021 and 2022. Founded in 1978, the Dakar Rally became an instant success as it had 200 vehicles that competed during its inaugural endurance race that saw the teams drive more than 5,000 miles of Saudi Arabian desert.

In 2021, the Dakar Rally opened a Classic segment that they opened to pre-2000 rally vehicles, giving his 1982 911SC another chance to return to desert racing.

The current Porsche 911SC owner, Lerner shared, “Competing in the Dakar Classic tests a driver’s skill set as the world’s toughest off-road endurance race. The race is designed to push driver and machine to the absolute limit. It was such a unique and amazing opportunity to field this Porsche there and the 911SC performed incredibly well and we were able to get a Stage win. Bringing such a historic rally car back to Dakar was an honor considering its provenance.”
