Singer Vehicle Design, founded in Los Angeles in 2009 by former musician and Porsche 911 enthusiast Rob Dickinson, aims to create the ultimate air-cooled 911 by blending design and engineering elements from various air-cooled generations.
Using the Porsche 964 as a foundation, Singer offers customers a choice of coupe or Targa body styles, rear- or all-wheel drive, and multiple engine configurations, all tailored to individual specifications. Every commission is entirely bespoke, crafted down to bare metal with carbon-fiber panels for a transformative build.
Each project demands approximately 4,000 hours and up to four years of meticulous work. The resulting engineering excellence and obsessive attention to detail have earned Singer a dedicated following among collectors, racers, and celebrities, creating a years-long waitlist for their creations.
RM Sotheby’s is now offering you the chance to skip the long waitlist with the “Highlands Commission,” a reimagined Porsche 911 and one of approximately 450 Classic 964 examples built by Singer. Based on a 1994 911 RS America, the Highlands Commission features a 4.0-liter flat-six engine producing 390 horsepower.
In June 2024, Singer updated the engine to Porsche Motorsport North America’s latest specifications, including new cylinder heads and components. At the same time, the Brembo brakes were upgraded to a carbon-ceramic system, the exterior graphics were updated with Deep Orange lettering, and a Le Mans-style ebony and walnut shift knob was installed.
The car’s Rainette Green exterior is complemented by a rich interior featuring Vivaldi leather with Tivoli woven inserts, a black leather dashboard, and nickel Fuchs-style wheels. Additional features include a six-speed manual transmission, Ohlins suspension, track seats, a Momo Prototipo steering wheel, and custom touches like a Deep Orange tachometer and deletion of door pockets.
Now showing just 2,103 miles on the odometer, the car is scheduled to go under the hammer on RM Sotheby’s and is expected to fetch up to $1,500,000.
