Originally built by German tuner Gemballa, the Avalanche was more than just a cosmetic upgrade. Boasting a powerful single-turbo engine and a host of performance modifications, it was a force to be reckoned with on the road. With only around 14 Avalanches ever produced, these cars are prized possessions for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
Based on the Porsche 930 Turbo, the Avalanche debuted in 1985 with a price of 390,000 DM (nearly $700,000 in 1989). Aimed at the wealthy and unconventional, one of its most famous owners was rapper Vanilla Ice.
Each Avalanche was extensively modified by Gemballa, featuring unique body panels and bespoke interiors filled with cutting-edge technology. Mechanical modifications were handled by RUF, with cars tailored to customer specifications.
