Porsche is one of the most accomplished automakers in history, having claimed victories in nearly every major sports car and prototype racing event. Its vehicles are revered by enthusiasts worldwide, with many collections featuring an impressive array of Porsche models. Though the brand has seldom ventured into the supercar arena, when it has, the results have been extraordinary.
In the 1970s, the 911 Carrera RS dominated racing circuits. The 1980s introduced the groundbreaking Porsche 959, showcasing the brand’s engineering prowess. Then came the Carrera GT in the early 2000s—a Formula 1-inspired V10-powered beast that delivered 605 horsepower and quickly became a collector’s dream.
Porsche made its next major supercar statement with the 918 Spyder, first unveiled in 2010. It combined a naturally aspirated 4.6-liter V8 with a hybrid system for a total of 875 horsepower and 944 lb-ft of torque. With a blistering 0–60 mph time of 2.2 seconds, it became the fastest accelerating production car at the time.
Advanced tech like all-wheel drive, rear-axle steering, and regenerative braking helped manage its immense power. The 918 also featured a removable roof, offering both coupe and targa driving experiences, much like the Carrera GT before it. Remarkably, it achieves an EPA-rated combined fuel economy of 67 MPG, redefining what hybrid technology can accomplish in a high-performance car.
This particular car, number 821 of the 918-unit production run, is one of only five equipped with the Weissach Package in the factory Salzburg livery finished in white. It’s also one of just two featuring black and Acid Green accents, and the only one combining this exterior with a black leather interior accented in Acid Green.
Originally delivered to Porsche of Roslyn in Upstate New York, it was customized with premium features like a front-axle lift system, two-zone automatic climate control, HomeLink, cup holder, carbon-fiber-look floor mats with Acid Green piping, Burmester surround-sound system, and additional storage compartments. Listed for sale on Bring A Trailer, this 918 remains in excellent condition with under 1,600 miles.
At its core, the 918 Spyder houses a 600+ horsepower 4.6L V8 engine derived from the RS Spyder race car, paired with two electric motors for a combined 887 HP. The powertrain is mid-mounted in a carbon-fiber monocoque chassis, connected to a 7-speed PDK transmission and carbon-ceramic brakes. A 312-cell lithium-ion battery powers the electric motors, supported by plug-in charging and regenerative braking.
