Porsche 997 GT3 RSR at Full Attack – Onboard at Paul Ricard

Since its launch, the Porsche 911 has played a key role in motorsport, especially in endurance racing. Two years after its debut, the 911 S won the 2-litre GT class at Le Mans. By the mid-1970s, Porsche introduced the RSR—a race-focused 911 that became the foundation for decades of success in endurance events.

In 1999, the 911 R, based on the 996-generation GT3, won its class at Le Mans and dominated the American Le Mans Series. Its successor, the GT3 RS, achieved overall victories at Spa and Daytona. In 2004, the 911 GT3 RSR debuted with 455 horsepower, a six-speed sequential gearbox, and marked the return of the RSR name.

The updated GT3 RSR, based on the 997-generation 911, was revealed in 2006 and raced at Le Mans in 2007. It featured improved aerodynamics, increased downforce, and reduced drag. The 3.8-litre flat-six produced 485 horsepower and revved to 9,000 rpm. The gearbox, influenced by RS Spyder development, was lighter with lower internal friction. Only 35 units were produced.

Enjoy the magnificent sound of the 3.8-litre flat-six as it is pushed to the limits around Paul Ricard circuit in France.
