Introduced at the 2018 LA Auto Show as a farewell to the 991 series, the GT2 RS Clubsport was Porsche’s ultimate expression of a track-focused, turn-key race car, designed for enthusiasts seeking unparalleled performance in a purpose-built machine. Limited to 200 examples, it immediately became a prized possession for collectors and racers alike.
At the heart of the GT2 RS Clubsport is a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine borrowed from the road-going GT2 RS. This powerhouse delivers 700 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque, managed by a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. Compared to its road-going counterpart, the GT2 RS Clubsport benefits from significant weight savings, shedding approximately 75 kilograms through the extensive use of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP).
A notable addition to the 991 GT2 RS lineup is the optional Weissach package. This package further reduces weight for an extra $31,000, utilizing additional carbon fiber components and magnesium wheels, making the car as close to a street-legal race car as possible.
One remarkable example of the 991 generation is a 2019 Porsche 911 GT2 RS, now listed on Bring A Trailer with just 888 miles. This car was originally purchased by professional golfer Ian Poulter through Porsche’s Sonderwunsch Factory Commissioning program, with an incredible $85,000 worth of custom options. The exterior is finished in Paint-to-Sample Nardo Grey, complemented by LED headlights with the Porsche Dynamic Lighting System. GT3 alloy wheels with center-locking hubs, wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires, complete its track-ready look.
Inside, the bespoke interior showcases a $31,000 Sonderwunsch option inspired by the Porsche crest’s colors. It features a two-tone configuration: Bordeaux leather for the driver’s seat and beige leather for the passenger’s, both accented with houndstooth cloth inserts. Carbon-backed bucket seats, extended deviated stitching, aluminum pedal covers, and illuminated carbon-fiber sill plates underscore the car’s luxurious yet performance-focused nature. Amenities include dual-zone automatic climate control, navigation, Porsche Communication Management (PCM), and a Bose surround sound system.
