The Porsche 959 was the company’s first true supercar, offering groundbreaking technology that set it apart as the fastest and most advanced road car of its time. It is one of the most collectible modern Porsches, produced in limited numbers with only 292 units made.
Now, you have the chance to own this iconic vehicle through an auction on Bring A Trailer. The 1987 Porsche 959 Komfort you see here is a splendid example showing just 13k kilometers or 7,800 miles and was originally delivered to a businessman in Japan, where it stayed for 15 years.
In 2003, the car was imported to the U.S. under a “show or display” exemption and modified by Wallace Environmental Testing Laboratories in Houston to meet EPA and California emissions standards. It was later displayed in a Florida museum before undergoing a major service by Canepa in Scotts Valley, California, at a cost exceeding $95k.
Finished in Silver Metallic with a Dark Grey Metallic leather interior, the car features a 2,849cc flat-six engine producing 444 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, with sequential twin-turbochargers, water-cooled cylinder heads, and quad overhead camshafts. A six-speed manual transmission channels power to all four wheels via Porsche’s electronically controlled PSK all-wheel-drive system.
Notable features include hollow-spoke magnesium alloy wheels, a tire-pressure monitoring system, anti-lock brakes, heated and power-adjustable sport seats, air conditioning, and a Blaupunkt Bremen cassette stereo.
