Ex Barry Bonds’ Modified Porsche 964 Speedster Up For Sale

Modified by Evomax in 2021

Since its debut in 1954, the Porsche Speedster has adhered to a simple design: two seats, a low, curved windshield, and a basic folding fabric top. Conceived by American importer Max Hoffman as an affordable addition to Porsche’s lineup, the 356-based Speedster became an instant hit with its raked, removable windshield, minimalist interior, and sleek body.

Porsche revived the name in 1989 with the 911 Carrera 3.2 Speedster and continued the tradition. In 1993, the Speedster returned on the 964 Carrera 2 platform, featuring its signature raked windshield, a minimal cloth top, and a fiberglass tonneau. Underneath was a 247-horsepower 3.6L flat-six, with 936 units produced between 1992 and 1994.

One 1994 Speedster, originally owned by seven-time National League MVP and home-run record holder Barry Bonds, was transformed by tuner Vittorio Strosek into a steel-bodied Mega Speedster. In 2021, the car underwent additional modifications by Evomax in Germany.

Evomax replaced the original body panels with lightweight carbon-kevlar components, enhancing the car’s aggressive stance. Key upgrades include flared wheel arches and redesigned front and rear bumpers, all finished in a striking Meissen Blue. Custom decals along the sides further elevate the car’s distinctive appearance.

Inside, the cabin features Porsche 918 carbon-fiber bucket seats upholstered in white leather, with “Evomax” embossed on the headrests. The console, dashboard fascia, and rear shelf are color-matched to the exterior, complemented by light gray trim on the upper dashboard, sills, exposed carbon-composite door panels, and front compartment. Additional details include gray square-weave carpeting, leather door pull straps, woven door pockets, air conditioning, power windows, and a Bluetooth-enabled sound system.

The Speedster is equipped with an upgraded 3.8L flat-six engine from Andial, paired with a six-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive for a thrilling driving experience. Now listed for sale on Bring A Trailer, the car has just 500 miles on its upgraded engine, though records from 2020 indicate a total mileage of approximately 35,000.
