The 2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS is an engineering marvel, boasting a factory-rated top speed of 209 MPH and a powerful 620 HP from its twin-turbocharged 3.6L flat-six engine. Inspired by the Le Mans-winning GT1 prototype, this supercar was designed to reclaim Porsche’s dominance by surpassing the Nürburgring lap record previously held by the Carrera GT.
As the most powerful road-legal Porsche ever equipped with a manual transmission, the 997 GT2 RS boasts a six-speed manual gearbox with a single-plate clutch and short-throw shifter. Its performance stems from a simple yet effective formula: start with the 997 Turbo, integrating GT3 RS suspension and brakes, a GT1-derived engine, and a rigorous weight-reduction program.
Tipping the scales at just 3,050 pounds, weight savings were achieved by converting to rear-wheel drive, replacing rear seats with lightweight sport seats, swapping steel for aluminum components, adding carbon-fiber front fenders, and fitting lightweight wheels.
Only 500 examples of the 997 GT2 RS were made including this particular example—number 206—scheduled to go under the hammer at RM Sotheby’s upcoming Dubai auction on December 1, with an expected price of $450,000 to $600,000. Finished in Carrara White with a Black leather and Alcantara interior accented by Guards Red harnesses, it features the Clubsport Package, carbon fiber trim, PCCB brakes, and numerous bespoke options.
Delivered in December 2010 via Porsche Centre Cyprus, the car later moved to the Middle East, receiving meticulous servicing and a 111-point inspection in 2023. The car is presented in excellent condition with just 1,798 kilometers on the odometer.
