Video series “My Porsche Story”

First-hand interviews reveals fascinating stories among "Porsche Cognoscente"

First-hand experiences with Porsches often forge life-long bonds between the car and its owner. For some, this relationship may have started the first time they drove their Porsche through a canyon, and experienced a “one with the car” sensation never felt before. Others may endure a restoration project and realize the feeling of putting a classic Porsche back on the road is one of overwhelming satisfaction. Regardless of the origin, these stories of “man and machine” are threads of a fabric that connects Porsche enthusiasts worldwide. And for many, their Porsche is not just a car, but a cherished companion.

Wanting to share some of these stories with the Porsche community, Beau Boeckmann has created a video series named “My Porsche Story.” Beau grew up on the showroom floors of Galpin dealerships learning the ropes from his father, Bert Boeckmann, a man widely recognized as one of the most successful and respected automobile dealers in the country. Beau had the opportunity to work with a variety of Galpin dealerships and eventually worked his way up to being named President and COO of Galpin in 2015.

Current Episodes of My Porsche Story

Chapter 1: Magnus Walker / ’75 930 Turbo

In the first episode, Beau takes a deep dive into the journey of Magnus Walker, a collector whose passion redefined what it meant to be a Porsche enthusiast with his iconic film, Urban Outlaw. It is no secret in today’s car-collecting world that the idea of a numbers-matching car holds greater value than one that doesn’t. Numbers matching typically refers to the engine, transmission, axles, and major components being original, true to their authentic engineering. There’s something about retaining the delicacy the factory put into building some of our favorite cars. In many collectors’ eyes, nothing is more perfect than factory-original, even if it’s not as powerful or not as tech-forward.

This may mean nothing to you, or this may mean the world in deciding whether or not a car is worth pursuing. In the first episode of My Porsche Story, Magnus Walker tells the story of how a numbers matching engine case for his 1975 930 Turbo actually found him. One could not have scripted a more perfect storyline in this window of time in the Urban Outlaw’s pursuit of rare Porsches — specifically, his dream Porsche, a first model-year 930. Magnus is a different kind of collector, unique in his overall approach towards life, and it was a pleasure filming him and hearing his story.

Chapter 2: Matt Farah – Porsche 718 Spyder (DeMan)

Matt Farah is no stranger to Porsche. As an automotive journalist, he’s had the privilege of driving just about every modern Porsche available today. Matt’s My Porsche Story covers the quest to build what in his eyes is the ultimate Porsche. It comes with a bit of controversy. Since the birth of the 911, it has been Porsche’s hero car. Even though a 718 Cayman/Boxster is a mid-engine car, it is technically more balanced and should be the better platform. Has Porsche purposefully kept the 718 at a limit so as not to overshadow the mighty 911? Matt wanted to find out for himself when he built the 4.5-liter DeMan Motorsport-powered 718 Spyder.

Chapter 3: Bruce Meyer – 1979 Porsche 935 K3

Bruce Meyer is every car guy’s car guy. The real estate investor turned historical motorsports car collector was a no brainer for My Porsche Story. Bruce tells us the story of his 1979 Le Mans winning 935K3 and the moment where its iconic drivers, The Whittington Brothers questionable history with drug dealing caught up to Bruce.
