Introduced in 2010 as a successor to the first-generation 997-series 911 GT3 RS, the new 997.2 GT3 RS brought several notable improvements. It was designed for homologation, with the primary goal of competing in the FIA-sanctioned GT3 racing class.
Since its debut in 1999, the GT3 has had a highly successful racing career, securing multiple class wins at prestigious events such as Le Mans, Sebring, Daytona, and the Nürburgring 24-hour race, along with seven championships in the American Le Mans series.
The 997.2 GT3 RS featured updates to the front and rear lights, minor body refinements, and a slightly higher rear spoiler. A significant change was the introduction of a 3.8-liter flat-six engine option midway through the model year, increasing horsepower by 35, bringing the total to an impressive 444 hp.
