Introduced in late 2007 as a 2008 model, the 997-series 911 GT2 marked a significant milestone for Porsche. It features a 3.6-liter flat-six engine with variable geometry turbochargers, producing 523 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and an impressive 505 lb-ft of torque at just 2,200 rpm, with a flat torque curve extending to 4,500 rpm.
This power allows the 997 GT2 to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and achieve a top speed of 204 mph, making it the first Porsche road car to exceed 200 mph. The engine’s output is managed through a conventional 6-speed manual transmission. It features factory-installed carbon-ceramic brakes with 6-piston front calipers and 4-piston rear calipers.
The 997 GT2 stands out with its distinctive nose and splitter, a rear wing with integrated air ducts, titanium muffler and tailpipes, and Porsche Active Suspension Management with 19” wheels. Inside, it offers sports bucket seats with leather and Alcantara upholstery, glass and carbon-fiber reinforced composites, and a high-end stereo system.
