Porsche Of The Day: 1972 Porsche 911 Hot Rod Outlaw

This Porsche began life as a 1981 911 SC sunroof coupe before it was modified with a custom backdated bodywork finished in Sport Classic Grey with gold accents and features a 1972-style oil filler door, a vented decklid and valances, and a through-the-hood fuel filler.

The 3.0L flat-six engine and Type 915 transaxle were rebuilt and modified by Accumoto, featuring 9.8:1 pistons, a short-ratio gearset, and a Wavetrac limited-slip differential, among other enhancements. Other equipment includes PMO carburetors, a Perma-Tune ignition, Billy Boat headers, a 991 GT3 Cup muffler, remote oil coolers, and numerous suspension modifications.

The interior features green upholstery, Recaro seats with color-matching houndstooth inserts, a roll bar, rear seat delete, RS-style door panels, and gray square-weave carpeting. The car has been featured in Esses magazine twice, attended Carmel’s Concours on the Avenue and R-Gruppe’s West Coast Treffen rally, and was the Early S Registry calendar feature for May 2019.
