The Carrera RS Clubsport, a track-oriented variant of the Carrera RS, prioritized performance over road comfort. Featuring a fully welded roll cage and seam-welded shell, the Clubsport boasted a 40% increase in body stiffness compared to the standard Carrera RS. Its adjustable suspension strut brace, lower front suspension, and upgraded anti-roll bars enhanced handling and agility.
With weight-saving measures like thinner glass, aluminum body panels, and minimal interior fittings, the RS Clubsport tipped the scales at a trim 2,770 lbs, shedding around 110 lbs from the standard RS. Inside, it exuded a pure race car feel, stripped down to the essentials.
Externally, the RS Clubsport sported a larger rear wing and deeper chin spoiler for enhanced aerodynamics, accentuating its aggressive appearance. The bi-plane rear spoiler offered adjustability, with an option for a more substantial RSR wing for serious track enthusiasts. The front splitter contributed to a balanced downforce.
Powered by the 3.8-liter M64/20 engine, shared with the standard RS, it delivered 300 hp through a G50/32 six-speed manual transmission with revised ratios for improved acceleration. With only 227 units produced, the 993 Carrera RS 3.8 Clubsport commands high prices in today’s collector car market, thanks to its historic lineage, exhilarating driving experience, and rarity.
