The Carrera GT production car was unveiled in March 2003 at the Geneva motor show in Switzerland. Following great sales success, the target was raised from 1000 to 1500 cars, but finally 1270 Carrera GT supercars were produced. The cars were made between September 2003 and April 2006.

More importantly, it has become an icon, probably the best supercar ever made thanks to a purity and performance that is missing in today’s cars. There are sports cars. And there are racing cars. The Porsche Carrera GT, derived from a Le Mans prototype, is a 612 hp racing car with road registration.

In 2 years and 7 months approximately 2 cars were made each day. Carrera GT was one of the very few supercar projects in the world that was economically successful. Most cars came in the standard colors of Guards Red, Fayence Yellow, Basalt Black, GT Silver or Seal Grey, but custom colors were available.

This 2005 Carrera GT, number 383 out of 1270 units produced, has been driven for 4,200 miles since new and has had two owners. Finished in GT Silver Metallic over Dark Gray leather, it comes equipped with features such as 19″ and 20″ center-lock alloy wheels, ceramic composite brakes, pushrod-activated coilover struts, removable roof panels, xenon headlights, carbon-fiber and Kevlar racing-style seats, a laminated beechwood shifter knob, air conditioning, and a Porsche Online Pro CD stereo.

Power is derived from a 5.7-liter V10 engine, which utilizes Nikasil-coated bores, forged titanium connecting rods, forged aluminum pistons, Porsche’s VarioCam timing system, and a two-chamber stainless steel exhaust system, producing 605 HP and 435 lb-ft of torque.

This power is managed by Porsche’s Ceramic Composite Clutch (PCCC), which, despite its compact size of only 6.65 inches in diameter, efficiently handles the V-10’s power while contributing to a lower center of gravity for the GT’s chassis, alongside the 6-speed transverse manual gearbox.
