Celebrating their 70th anniversary, Porsche unveiled the Type 991.2 Speedster concept at the 2018 Paris Motor Show, marking a significant milestone in automotive history. The production model made its debut at the New York Auto Show in April 2019, marking the culmination of the 991 family’s legacy, with deliveries commencing in May of the same year. Limited to 1,948 units, a nod to Porsche’s founding year, the Speedster quickly captivated enthusiasts, selling out effortlessly.
The 991.2 Speedster merges the chassis of the GT3 with the bodyshell of the Carrera 4 Cabriolet. Its heart beats with the GT3 RS‘ formidable 4.0-liter flat-six engine, delivering 503bhp, mated to a six-speed manual transmission similar to the revered 911 R.
Distinguishing features of the 991.2 version include the signature ‘camel hump’ cowlings, carbon fiber elements borrowed from the 911 R, and a GT3 bumper at the rear. The leather-clad interior boasts perforated seats, complemented by red-tinted daytime running lights, stone guards, a titanium exhaust system, and carbon-ceramic brakes as standard.
The 2019 Porsche 911 Speedster you see here is currently up for sale on Collecting Cars and it is a head-turning examples thanks to its striking Lizard Green finish. Inside, black leather upholstery sets the stage, adorned with green contrast stitching and ‘Speedster’ embroidered emblems on the seat headrests. The leather-trimmed steering column echoes this style with matching stitching. Notable enhancements include SportDesign mirrors with carbon-fiber upper sections, gloss black door handles, carbon illuminated door sills, and carbon bucket seats.
Rolling on 20-inch center-lock alloy wheels in black, this Speedster showcases yellow calipers over ceramic discs and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. LED headlights with PDLS, front suspension lift, Chrono package, reversing camera, cruise control, light design package, PCM with online navigation and digital radio, and the Bose surround-sound system round out its impressive features.
