In 2015, Porsche impressed enthusiasts with the Cayman GT4, featuring a version of the 3.8-liter flat-six from the 911 Carrera S located behind the passenger compartment. It boasted a lowered suspension, upgraded brakes from the 911 GT3, and enhanced aerodynamics, making it a formidable track performer.
However, it wasn’t just a weekend warrior; the Cayman GT4 had a sturdier chassis, an integrated cage, a Recaro racing seat with a six-point harness, a factory-supplied fire extinguisher, and preparation for a battery cutoff switch, emphasizing its competitive nature.
Debuting at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show in racing livery, the GT4 Clubsport discarded any road-going aspirations. It featured Porsche’s PDK dual-clutch gearbox, sending power to the rear via a mechanically locking rear differential. With adjustable ABS brakes, suspension components from the 911 GT3 Cup, a full welded-in cage, and Schroth six-point racing harnesses, the GT4 Clubsport was purpose-built for racing.
This 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport model was modified with a Manthey-Racing MR Performance kit. The kit included KW adjustable coilovers, a blade-style front sway bar, and brake-bias adjustment. Additionally, it reduced weight with a carbon-fiber bonnet, rear wing, and doors.
