This 1996 Porsche 993 Carrera Targa, one of only 462 units produced for the U.S. market in its model year was transformed into a unique masterpiece through a custom restoration led by Jason Castriota.
Known for his influential work at Pininfarina, where he designed iconic vehicles such as Maserati’s GranTurismo and the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, Castriota has solidified his reputation as one of the most distinguished automotive designers of the modern era. His portfolio includes the exceptional Ferrari P4/5 by Pininfarina and the SSC Tuatara, a hypercar celebrated for reaching speeds exceeding 300 MPH.
Viewing the 993 as the pinnacle of Porsche’s 911 sports car, Castriota embarked on a personal mission to transform this Targa into a drivable work of art. The car went through an extensive restoration, featuring a custom dark brown metallic finish. The exterior is further enhanced by gold accents on the brake calipers and the exceptionally rare narrow-body 18” 911 Turbo hollow spoke wheels.
The rear of the car boasts a gold Targa badge and a distinctive split-grille decklid borrowed from the contemporary Carrera 2S model. Stepping inside reveals a bespoke handcrafted brown leather interior, adorned with deviated stitching and woven leather houndstooth inlays on the seat centers, dashboard, and door panels.
Power comes from an air-cooled 3.6-liter flat-six Varioram engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels. In terms of performance upgrades, the vehicle has been equipped with a Fabspeed sport exhaust, ECU tune, and KW 3-way coilovers, elevating its driving experience to new heights.
