Hello dear Stuttcars
Thanks for a very good and interesting page. I just wanted to bring some more accuracy to production numbers for the Porsche 924 Carrera GTS.
There were only 50 924 Carrera GTS made in 1981, including one prototype. The reason it was only 50 cars made in the series was that number 1 through 9 was omitted when the production started. The production started with number WPOZZZ937ZBS210010 and ended with WPOZZZ937ZBS210059
All GTS’s were assembled at the development and motorsport facility in Weissach, Stuttgart.
Later, in the 90’s a white GTS was assembled from a spare chassis and parts at the Porsche factory by a Porsche emplyee and was awarded production number WPOZZZ937ZBS210001.
That makes a total of 51 GTS cars produced with a genuine 924 GTS VIN number. Not 59 as most people mistakenly assume.
From the original 50 GTS’s, 15 of those cars were ClubSport versions with rollcage, fire extinguisher and increased horsepower to 280. A few of those Clubsport GTS’s were equipped with drysump lubrication (which were sold as an option kit and called Rally stufe 1 and Rally stufe 2 kit), from Porsche to the racing and rally teams campaigning the GTS’s in FIA group B and Group 4 motorsport competitions.
Jørgen Barth confirmed this to me many years ago, when I bought my 924 GTS.
I think it was only 5 GTS Clubsport cars that were equipped with drysump as Group 4 or Group B cars. But of this I am not 100% sure, there may be more than 5 of those ClubSport with drysump lubrication.
Thanks for your attention.
Best regards
Tor

I just acquired a 1987 924S and really know nothing about this auto. I’m having a tough time lining up the pop up lights. Either they hit the hood or the black bucket runs on the bottom. I found the adjustment screws under the fender, the grill and the two for the motor. HELP ME Please.
