This 1995 Porsche 911 Remastered by Gunther Werks, known as the “Rennsport Aventura,” is a remarkable tribute to the last of Porsche’s air-cooled 911s. This exceptional 993 will go under the hammer at RM Sotheby’s Arizona auction on January 24, 2025, and could fetch up to $1,100,000.
The Porsche 993 generation, the last air-cooled 911, holds a special place in automotive history. Revered for its timeless design and performance, it marked the end of an era when Porsche transitioned to water-cooled engines with the 996 series in 1997.
Gunther Werks of Huntington Beach, California, has elevated the 993’s legacy by remastering these cars into extraordinary creations, offering unique builds like the Turbo, Speedster, and Carrera-based models. The “Rennsport Aventura” is built on the foundation of a 993 Carrera. Gunther Werks incorporates extensive carbon fiber throughout the 993’s chassis and body.
Lightweight components replace original panels and internal parts, enhancing aesthetics and performance. The chassis features upgraded JRZ adjustable coil-overs, custom control arms, uprated anti-roll bars, lightweight uprights, and a strut brace, ensuring superior handling dynamics.
Power comes from a reimagined version of Porsche’s air-cooled flat-six engine, enlarged from 3.6 to 4.0 liters. Paired with a Getrag G50 six-speed manual transmission, it delivers an impressive 435 horsepower and 312 lb-ft of torque. Custom two-tone perforated leather, anodized aluminum, and carbon fiber dominate the cabin. Each car is tailored to the owner’s specifications, with 80% of the interior bespoke and the remainder updated with brand-new Porsche components.
As the final car of the 25 built, the “Rennsport Aventura” holds a unique position in the series. It debuted at The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering in 2022, receiving widespread acclaim. With a build cost exceeding $778,000, it remains pristine, showing delivery mileage and reflecting meticulous care from its original owner.
