Stuttcars Exclusive: 000 Magazine Presents Turbo 50 Years

Porsches at Summit Skywalker Ranch? Sign us up!!

The Porsche Turbo story began 50 years ago, in 1974, when Porsche introduced the first 911 Turbo (internally known as the Type 930) at the Paris Auto Show. This car combined luxury and race-bred engineering to create a groundbreaking model that would forever change sports car performance standards.

Fast forward to October 26, 2024, where a 50th-anniversary celebration of the Porsche 911 Turbo was hosted by 000 Magazine at Summit Skywalker Ranch in picturesque Marin County California.  This was the perfect luxurious event blending automotive history, art and fine cuisine. Guests were greeted with hors d’oeuvres and drinks while exploring a showcase of customer-owned Porsche Turbos.

On display were modified designs by Singer, Keen and RUF, and unique Porsche creations commissioned by 000 Magazine through the Porsche Sonderwunsch program. Boutique partner Porsche Monterey showcased an impressive display of Porsche Turbos, while guests had the chance to taste a variety of wines and shop for souvenirs at the Summit Skywalker Gift Shop.

The evening featured an insightful talk on the history of the Porsche 911 Turbo, presented by 000’s Pete Stout, Alex Palevsky, and Dirk Layer alongside the first concept – a silver 911 Turbo with a distinctive blue and green tartan plaid interior. Afterwards, attendees were treated to exquisite Skywalker Ranch wines and delicious Skywalker Wagyu beef served at four distinct stations, adding a culinary touch to the experience.

Throughout dinner, Porsche enthusiasts could listen to a panel discussion about the 911 Turbo, featuring Pete Stout and Larry Chen, which offered guests more engaging insights and anecdotes from behind the scenes. Guests could also explore the Hemlock Gallery lined with vintage American movie posters and 000 Magazine cover art on display. The magazine covers are now available for purchase on the 000 website as fine art posters. Other boutique partners that evening were B.R.M. Chronographes, Barton Perreira and Club Wheelhouse. A docent-led art tour allowed attendees to view original Star Wars art and movie props.
